The Colorado Avalanche and the Minnesota Wild clash in pivotal Game 5 of their Western Conference quarterfinal series Thursday night at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul. The best-of-seven series is tied 2-2.

Minnesota has a slight edge over the past 10 meetings, winning six times. Seven of the past 10 meetings in Minnesota have gone under the total.

The Avalanche beat the Wild 5-1 on Tuesday night to tie the series. Colorado cashed as -170 home favorites and the game played over the 5-goal total. The Avalanche outshot the Wild 40-25.

Jose Theodore stopped 24-of-25 shots to earn the victory. Niklas Backstrom allowed five goals on 29 shots before he was replaced by Josh Harding at the start of the third period. Backstrom is expected back between the pipes this evening, as is Theodore.
 
Colorado is 7-3 SU in its past 10 games, but 2-5 SU in its past seven on the road and  3-6 SU in its past nine against Minnesota.

Minnesota is 7-1 SU in its past eight at home and 6-1 SU in its past seven at home against Colorado.

The game starts at 9 pm ET and can be seen on TSN (HD) in Canada, and locally on ALT and KSTC.

Game 6 of the series is scheduled for Saturday in Denver.
