The Calgary Flames will have defenseman Dion Phaneuf in the lineup when they try to snap a three-game losing streak against the visiting Vancouver Canucks Thursday night.
The third-year defenseman missed his second-straight practice with a leg injury yesterday, but the Flames announced Thursday afternoon that Phaneuf would be good to go against their Northwest division rivals tonight.
Vancouver has a slight advantage head-to-head, going 6-4-0-0 in the past 10 clashes with Calgary. The teams last met on Oct. 6, when Vancouver picked up a 4-3 road win. Vancouver has been dominant when playing the Flames in Calgary over the past few seasons, going 14-5-2 SU in its past 21 visits.
The Canucks (6-8 SU) haven’t played since Saturday, when they beat the Colorado Avalanche 4-3 to hand the Avs their first home-ice loss of the season. The Flames (6-6-3 SU) lost to the Avalanche 4-1 on Monday in Colorado.
Vancouver is 5-2 SU in its past seven road games overall, and on the road against Calgary.
The Canucks are expected to start Roberto Luongo in goal, while the Flames will go with Miikka Kiprusoff.
