The Toronto Maple Leafs will have some new faces in the lineup as they face their Ontario rivals, the Ottawa Senators.
Power forward Mark Bell, acquired from the San Jose Sharks in the off season, will make his Toronto debut after serving a 15-game suspension, and Kyle Wellwood will play his first game of the season after recovering from a groin injury.
The Leafs will be in tough no matter who’s in the lineup, though, as Ottawa is the hottest team in the NHL. The Senators have won five straight, and are 9-1 SU in their past 10 games.
Ottawa holds the upper hand in its past 10 games against Toronto, going 7-1-0-2 SU. Ottawa is just dominant going back further, with a 14-4 SU edge in the past 18 meetings with the Leafs. Ottawa is especially strong on home ice, going 9-2 SU in its past 11 games against Toronto. The teams opened the 2007-08 season with back-to-back games, with the Senators winning both – 4-3 in Toronto on Oct. 3 and 3-2 in Ottawa the next night.
Ottawa’s Jason Spezza is listed as day-to-day with a groin injury.
Toronto is expected to start Vesa Toskala in net, and Ottawa will go with Martin Gerber.
Betting Line: Ottawa is a 220-moneyline favorite. The over/under is 6.
