The oldest and most storied rivalry in the NHL resumes Tuesday night when the Toronto Maple Leafs host the Montreal Canadiens at the Air Canada Centre.
The Maple Leafs hold a head-to-head advantage, going 6-1-0-3 over the past 10 meetings with the Canadiens. Montreal has had particular difficulty winning in Toronto, going 0-4 SU in their past four visits. The Canadiens’ last win in Toronto was Oct. 7, 2006 when they edged the Leafs 3-2.
Montreal (9-4-3) has been rolling lately, going 7-3 SU over the past 10, but did lose its last start 3-1 to the Senators in Ottawa on Saturday. Toronto (7-7-4) lost 3-2 to the New York Rangers at home on Saturday.
Montreal is 4-2 SU in its past six games on the road, but just 1-5 SU in its past six on the road against Toronto.
There is a pronounced Over trend heading into this matchup: The total has gone Over in eight of Montreal's past 11 games on the road against Toronto, has gone Over in 10 of Montreal's past 15 on the road, and has gone Over in nine of Toronto's past 11 at home.
The Canadiens are expected to start Carey Price in net, while the Fan 590 radio in Toronto is reporting that the Maple Leafs will likely go with Andrew Raycroft, as Vesa Toskala has the flu.
Betting Line: Toronto is a 155-moneyline favorite at BetUS. The over/under is 6.
