Penguins take on Joe Sakic and the Colorado Avalanche as the
Penguins make their first visit to Denver in more than four
years.
Pittsburgh (6-4-1 SU) last played the Avalanche in Colorado
on March 1, 2003, a game Colorado won 4-1. The teams have
met twice since, both times in Pittsburgh, with each team
winning once. Over the past 10 meetings, the Avalanche are
a dominating 8-2-0-0.
The Penguins are coming off a 4-2 win at the Minnesota Wild
on Tuesday night, while the Avalanche beat the Wild 3-1 on
home ice Sunday night.
The Penguins will start back-up netminder Dany Sabourin,
who was in net for the win in Minnesota., The Avalanche will
have Jose Theodore in goal. Colorado coach Joel Quenneville
said Theodore earned another start with his 39-save, overtime
win against the Calgary Flames last Friday.
